Things To Do

There are so many things you can do in Kuching & I try to figure it out as many as possible for your reference here:

Kayaking – Mostly organised by the local tour operators, and you have a various options to choose from on where you want to kayak, such as Sarawak River (in the Kuching city), Salak River to the South-China sea at Santubong Peninsula (high chance to spot dolphin), or to kayak through the Borneo rainforest and experience the sights and sounds of the tropical rainforest.

Dolphin Watching – Most travel agencies will organize such tour to spot the rare species dolphin called Irrawaddy Dolphin, at the Salak River. Get ready with your zoom camera for a nice shot. They are kind of shy, and don’t expect them to turn up right beside your boat.

Sarawak River Cruise – Cruise along the Sarawak river with traditional Malays style boat called “Tambang”. Hire a “Tambang” from Kuching Waterfront & generally they charge RM30 per hour for cruising along the Sarawak River. You get to see the Kuching city from a different perspective view, & at the other side of Kuching city is the traditional Malay villages.

Scuba Diving – At Kuching, you can join the dive operator – Kuching Scuba for the diving trip to Satang or Talang Island. It’s the only National Park in Sarawak with pristine beach & crystal clear water. Underneath the water is the beautiful coral reefs & marine life.
